Here is what we've been told by the Hilton Polaris regarding paying sales tax:

We do accept tax exemptions forms. You can bring your forms when you arrive and the Front Desk can take care of the exemption at check in.
Unless you have an Occupancy tax exemption form (which most groups do NOT), the 8.1% occupancy tax will be applied to your bill. The 7.5% sales tax would be waived.
We do accept government checks.
